Two men arrested in Nacogdoches County after tractor, mower theft

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY (KYTX) - Two men were arrested in Nacogdoches County this week after they allegedly stole a tractor and mower from a residence.

The offense occurred on CR 262 in Nacogdoches County.Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to a theft in progress Monday. When the deputies got to that part of the county, they found Smith on his tractor with the stolen Bush Hog.

Joey Van Cooper Smith, 26, of Garrison, and David Heath Parker, 23, of Cushing, were both charged with a state-jail felony charge of theft between $1,500 and $20,000. Parker was also charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance less than or equal to 4 grams, which is also a felony.

Further investigation revealed that Smith and Parker had attempted to steal a tractor that was parked in a wooded area behind a home on CR 262, the press release said.

The two men allegedly used another tractor to pull the stolen tractor out of a wooded area and crank. After the deputies found Smith on his tractor, they found the stolen tractor abandoned at a residence on Appleby Sand Road. Parker had fled the scene at that point, the press release stated.

Parker was arrested Tuesday after officials issues a warrant for his arrest, the release said.
