TxDOT plans seal coat work in Gregg County

GREGG COUNTY (KYTX)– As early as Wednesday this week, Texas Department of Transportation contract crews are scheduled to begin seal coat operations on the following roadways:

· FM 2276 between FM 2087 and FM 1249; and

· US 259 Kilgore Bypass between SH 31 and US 259 Business

Beginning Monday, Texas Department of Transportation contract crews are scheduled to begin several days of seal coat operations on the following roadways:

· FM 95 between FM 1798 and SH 315; and

· US 79 between FM 3135 and Panola County Line

TxDOT's seal coat program seals nearly 300 centerline miles of roadway across the eight-county Tyler District each summer, extending the maintenance-free service life of those roadways by as much as 10 years or more. Local TxDOT crews have been preparing sections of these roadways over the past year in preparation for sealing.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid long delays associated with the work.
