TxDot to crack down on habitual toll road violators

TYLER (KYTX) - Extreme toll violators have two weeks to pay their fines or else TxDot plans to take action against people with 100 or more unpaid toll bills.

Senate bill 1792 was recently passed giving TxDot the ability to publish people's names, city and state and amount of outstanding tolls online.

TxDot says this is a major issue since $27 million are owed in unpaid state operated tolls.

"Those who don't' pay are effectively stealing from the state and the citizens of Texas, the money being loss is building new roads and maintaining," said Mark Cook with TxDot.

TxDot is working with county leaders throughout Texas to make it so extreme violators be prevented from registering their cars if their toll balances remain unpaid.
