Tyler man charged with firing weapon in home, injuring woman

UPDATE: Tyler Police identify 23-year-old Terral Carter as the man arrested for firing shots inside a North Tyler home Wednesday afternoon.

Police say he was firing shots into the floor during a disturbance when one of the bullets ricocheted and struck a woman in the right knee. Carter is also accused of firing the gun in front of a child. He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangering a child. 

TYLER (KYTX)- May 14, at about 3:49 p.m., Tyler Police received a 911 call that there was a family disturbance at 1004 W. Trezevant.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that an adult female had been shot.

During the disturbance, Terral Carter apparently pulled out a small handgun and began shooting rounds at the floor. One of the rounds ricocheted and struck the adult victim on her right knee.

At the same time, a small child was present and was standing near where the bullets were hitting the floor.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. The child was not injured.

The suspect, Terral Carter, 23 years old, will be booked into Smith County Jail later tonight after the investigation is completed.
