Tyler man charged with second-degree manslaughter

TYLER (KYTX) - A Tyler man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the death of 38-year-old Chad Everett Davis last month.

Justin Wayne Staples, 30, was taken into custody at the Smith County Jail on Friday and charged with second-degree manslaughter. His bond was set at $100,000.

Davis was struck by a vehicle just after 1 a.m. Nov. 23 in a wooded area, according to investigators. The scene was located northeast of Blue Mountain Boulevard.

The vehicle was driven by a man that Davis had been drinking with that night.
