Tyler man killed, another man injured in Tx 31 wreck near Kilgore

KILGORE (KYTX) - A head on collision between two trucks 4.5 miles west of Kilgore left one Tyler man dead and another Tyler man with serious injuries.

DPS troopers responded to the wreck on Texas Highway 31 in Gregg County between FM 3053 and FM 2012, at 11:38 pm.

According to GPS communications officer Jean Dark, a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 24-year-old Christian Banks, of Tyler, was traveling west when it drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with a 1999 DodgeR am 1500, driven by Bryce Goodgion, also of Tyler.

Goodgion was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, where he was pronounced dead about 12:30 this morning by Gregg County Pct. 3 JP Talyna Carlson.

Banks was also taken to Good Shepherd in Longview with serious injuries, according to the preliminary DPS report.

Traffic on Texas Highway 31 was shut down for more than half an hour in both directions while DPS and Gregg County sheriffs deputies worked the wreck scene.
