Tyler man's products to air on 'Shark Tank'

(KYTX) - A Tyler businessman and entrepreneur whose latest creation was produced with the assistance of the Tyler Junior College Small Business Development Center will be a part of the popular TV show "Shark Tank" this Friday, Jan. 4th.

Doug Marshall, whose The Gameface Company benefited by business counseling from the SBDC, will be one of four entrepreneurs on this week's episode of the show hoping to sell his business concept to anxious and sometimes hostile investors.

Shark Tank airs from 8-9 pm (CT) on ABC television. Shark Tank is in its fourth season of providing budding entrepreneurs with the chance to make their dreams come true and possibly make a business deal that will make them a millionaire.

Marshall's temporary full-face transfer product line began with the sports fan in mind and has expanded to Mossy Oak camouflage for the outdoors and a variety of other costume faces. The product is billed as "the only full-face temporary transfer" and is available in licensed designs, including Texas Tech, TCU and Texas A&M. The Gameface Company also offers temporary tattoos promoting various sports franchises, including the Dallas Cowboys.

"We created and patented the Gameface as a fun product for families and sport fans to wear at high school and college football games," Marshall said "Then, it exploded into the costume, hunting, and promotional product industries. We had no idea that after we auditioned for Shark Tank we would be out in L.A. filming and actually on the show the next month."

The SBDC, the Tyler Texas Angels Network, Xerox, and Coyote Sam's will host a viewing party for the program Friday Jan. 4th, from 7-9 p.m., at Coyote Sam's, 5424 Old Jacksonville Road, with snacks and a cash bar. Marshall is expected to attend.

Marshall's segment in the show includes appearances from his children, Katie and Will, and will air between 8 and 9 p.m. The show was recorded last summer. To comply with the rules of the program, he cannot divulge the outcome of his investment pitch prior to the show's broadcast.
