Tyler MPO Transportation Plan

TYLER (KYTX) - The public is invited to attend a workshop held by the Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in an effort to update the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).

The MTP is a long-range transportation plan with a 25-year scope that will help Tyler plan for future transportation needs and the expenditure of federal, state, and local funds that become available for these projects.

The current MTP was approved in December 2009 and includes multiple projects totaling approximately $390 million worth of transportation improvements through the life of the plan.

The workshop will be held:

  • Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

At the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden, Camellia Room – 420 Rose Park Drive, Tyler, TX 75202.

The workshop will begin with a brief open house where attendees can visit different stations to learn about the MPO, the MTP and the MTP update process. Participants will then split into small groups to discuss their individual values regarding transportation. The groups will be asked to consider and comment on various possible growth scenarios, as well as discuss how each scenario would affect the transportation network.

The ultimate goal of the workshop is to develop a community vision for future growth and identify the appropriate means of supporting that growth with various modes of transportation such as vehicle, bicycle, pedestrian, public transportation and freight. Refreshments will be provided.

Citizens may also provide feedback by contacting the MPO at www.TylerAreaMPO.org.
