Tyler PD arrest hit and run driver after causing 3 car accident on Loop 323

UPDATE: Tyler Police Department:

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler police responded to WSW Loop 323 and Jacksonville Hwy. around 12:15 p.m. today on a report of a multiple car crash in the intersection.

The driver who caused the crash was later identified as Daniel Massad, W/M, 04/06/1988, of Tyler. Massad was driving a Dodge pick-up east bound on loop 323 running a red light at Jacksonville Hwy. striking a vehicle in the intersection.  Massad also struck a second vehicle waiting in traffic after the first impact.

Massad exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot into a nearby industrial park area.  Officers set up a perimeter and located him exiting a heavily brush area 30 minutes after the crash.

Massad was placed under arrest for Hit and Run, Evading Arrest and Possession of Controlled Substance (Meth) that was located in his vehicle he was driving.

There were no serious injuries in the wreck and no one was transported to a hospital.


UPDATE: A 25-year-old Tyler man was arrested Thursday after causing a three car accident in Tyler.


According to Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin, Daniel Massad was arrested shortly after he ran away from the scene of the accident into the woods near DC Drive and Old Jacksonville Highway.

Officers found what is believed to meth inside of Massad's car.


TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Police officers make an arrest after a person involved in a three car accident on Loop 323 and Old Jacksonville fled the scene on foot.


The accident happened just after noon Thursday.

No injuries were reported.
