Tyler Police investigates overnight shooting

TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Tyler police said it appears that a 19-year-old man was shot in the neck and robbed Wednesday night while at City Park at the intersection of North Broadway Avenue and Queen Street in Tyler.

Sgt. Robert Plymail said that while the man's wound did not appear life threatening, he was taken to the hospital.

Police got the call shortly after 10 p.m. of shots fired. Plymail said the man was found on the basketball court with family members. The shooting is believed to have been done by three to four black males -- some wearing hoodies and one wearing a tank top, Plymail said.

It appeared that the victim was robbed, though it was not clear if the others with him were robbed, he said.

Tyler police will continue to investigate.
