Tyler Police looking for 2 men involved in late-night shooting

(FROM TYLER POLICE DEPARTMENT) - Tyler Police are looking for two suspects in a late-night shooting.

Around 10:47 Thursday night, police responded to an aggravated assault that happened near the intersection of Tyler Street and Martin Luther King Blvd. According to the victim, when he arrived home he noticed a green colored pick-up truck parked suspiciously along the roadway with a black male sitting in the driver's seat.  The victim, thinking this was unusual, drove around the block and when he returned home didn't see anyone sitting inside the vehicle. The victim pulled into his driveway and watched the vehicle for several minutes before a black male set up and drove away.

The victim followed the vehicle and confronted the driver, who also had a passenger in the vehicle, near the intersection of Tyler St. and Martin Luther King Blvd.  Following a brief argument the victim stated the passenger exited the vehicle, displayed a handgun, and fired a single shot; striking the victim's vehicle.  The victim then fled the scene and notified police.

The victim was not injured during the incident. He described the driver as a black male, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds wearing a dark colored hoodie. The vehicle is described as a late 1990s regular cab pick-up truck, possibly a Ford; however, he could not provide a description of the passenger.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or Tyler/Smith County Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF. Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any other felony case.
