(KYTX) - A renovated space in downtown Tyler will be the new adult probation office.
Moving from the Smith County office building, the adult probation department will now be at 217 East Line St.
It will not only house employees but include training classrooms and more parking space. It was important for the building to stay near the County Courthouse and Sheriff's Office.
"When we did our master planning, the first thing they said was we needed to get everyone out of the old Smith county building. So with the completion of this building that will get everyone out of that building and that phase of the plan will be completed."
The adult probation department will be open in the current location during the transition, September 3-6th. It opens in the new location September 10 permanently.
