(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will hold a meeting Thursday seeking comments concerning moving the entrance to Tyler State Park from Farm to Market 14 to Sand Flat Road or County Road 313 West.
Mike Kinney, assistant park manager, said the park has long-outgrown its current office. The facility is also not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and that it would be less expensive to build a new facility than attempt to upgrade the current one.
However, there is not space at the site of the current office for a larger building, causing the department to look at an old abandoned road leading out of the park to the northwest.
Kinney added that while the department is holding a public meeting, that construction could be as far as four or five years away.
The public meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Red Springs Fire Station, 16759 F.M. 14.
