Tyler Traffic Sees Decline

TYLER (KYTX) - For the first time in several years -- no roads inTyler are among the 100 most congested roadways in Texas.
That's according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
In 2007, 73,000 drivers a day passed through the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and Loop 323, according to TxDot's most recent survey.
Since then, Loop 323 was has been rated the 54th most congested highway in Texas, and two years ago, Broadway was ranked 82nd in the state.
They're no longer on the list -- in part because the city has more alternate routes.
But with new construction and net growth of about 3,500 people a year, Tyler is looking for more solutions.
"Anything to get off Broadway. I try not to take it unless I absolutely have to."
City Planners say they're working on a transportation improvement plan to address future problems from now until 2035.
