(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - The University Interscholastic League has announced its bi-annual realignment district and Robert E. Lee, the lone Class 6A school in East Texas, was grouped into an eight-team district with schools from Garland ISD and Rockwall.
The Red Raiders are part of new District 11-6A, which also features Garland, Lakeview Centennial, Naaman Forest, Rowlett, Sachse, North Garland and Rockwall.
This breaks up Lee's association with Mesquite ISD. Lee and Mesquite ISD schools have been in same district since 2004. Rockwall and Lee are the lone two schools from District 12-5A that stay together in new District 11-6A.
The Mesquite ISD schools moved into a district with Highland Park and Richardson ISD schools.
Longview, which was formerly in District 11-5A with Lee, moved down and stays in 5A to be apart of the new District 15-5A, along with Hallsville, Pine Tree, Sulphur Springs, Texas High, Mount Pleasant, Marshall and Greenville.
