Unwanted text messages, calls cause driver to fire shots on loop

TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH (KYTX) - The driver of a car fired shots at men in another vehicle on Loop 323 last night.

No one was injured.

Police are looking for the man with the gun.

Danny Mogle from our news partners at the Tyler paper joins us with more.

Danny, what set off this incident?

Police are telling us that this all began when a man became upset that someone was sending unwanted text messages and phone calls to a woman he knew.

The woman arranged to meet the man who was sending her these messages in the parking lot of a convenience store on Front Street.

What she didn't tell the man was that she was bringing her friend along.

Did her friend confront this other man?

Actually, when the woman and her friend arrived, there was not one but three men waiting.

We are told the woman's friend pulled out a gun and warned them to quit sending these messages.

The man with the gun and the woman drove off and were on the east Loop near the Delek refinery when the men in the other car pulled up behind them.

Is this when the shooting took place?

Police say at this point the man with the gun stuck his arm out the window and fired off several shots at the other car.
