UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Gregg County Crimestoppers has received a $1000.00 donation to add to the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting this dog over 40 items with some sort of air rifle.

Vallerie Mills, Humane Society of Northeast Texas Relocation Manager, tells KYTX CBS 19 that Spike Dillinger may have a new home by next week. Mills is in the process of setting up an appointment with a potential East Texas family who would like to adopt him.
LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A dog was found wondering on Richards and Green Street in Longview with over 30 pellets from a pellet gun still inside of him. One of the dog's eyes had to be removed because of a pellet that hit the dog directly on the eye.
Scott Holloway, Humane Society of Northeast Texas Executive Director, tells KYTX CBS 19 that Longview Police spotted the dog and called animal control.
"When animal control brought the dog in he looked like he had been bedazzled," said Vallerie Mills, Humane Society of Northeast Texas Relocation Manager.
"Spike Dillinger" the nickname given to him by animal control and shelter volunteers had to have surgery Wednesday morning to have his eye removed due to a pellet being lodged in his bottom eyelid.
Shelter volunteers are asking for donations to help care for the dog while he recovers from his wound as well as someone to foster him until he is able to be adopted.
So far, about $200 have been collected to help with the medical expenses.
Longview Police are investigating the crime.
