A double fatality wreck was reported Friday night on Highway 31 near the Gregg County line.
DPS officials said two people were hit and killed on the highway after they exited a vehicle and attempted to help a woman pinned inside a car after a wreck.
The victims were identified as Jason David Albright, 33, and Dulis Rolando Cervantes, 28.
Albright and Cervantes were traveling in a Durango that was hit from behind by a car, officials said.
When the two men got out of the car to help a woman inside the second vehicle, they were hit by a Ford Taurus, according to the investigating trooper. No other information about the driver of the Taurus has been released.
According to Trooper Jean Dark, Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, and Albright was pronounced dead at Good Shepherd hospital in Longview.
The wreck occurred about 7 p.m. on Highway 31 near the Gregg County line, and caused traffic to be stopped for more than an hour.
The condition of the woman inside the wrecked car has not been released.
Traffic was still delayed to one lane at 9 p.m., according to CBS-19 crew.
