UPDATE: 11/8/12 1:30 AM
The man accused of robbing several convenience stores in the last month is behind bars. Jacksonville Police tell CBS19 26 year old Kendall Lucas was arrested just after midnight at an apartment complex in south Jacksonville. He will be arraigned later today.
JACKSONVILLE (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Jacksonville police are looking for a local man who was allegedly involved in at least three recent aggravated robberies.
Lucas apparently found out officials were approaching and fled on foot.
Compton said he was chased into a wooded area across Loop 456, where an officer set up perimeter, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter was called to check the area from overhead. But after about an hour, the helicopter was unsuccessful in locating him.
In the meantime, Compton said tracking dogs were brought in and were able to set up a trail from the last point where he was seen in the wood line. However, the dogs ultimately lost his scent about 10 p.m., so the search was called off, he said.
Lucas is a convicted felon on parole from burglary and has an active parole warrant for him as well as a misdemeanor warrant. That's in addition to him being wanted for the robberies.
Jacksonville police Crime Stoppers and the Tyler FBI office is offering an award for information leading to Lucas' capture.
Compton said Lucas is considered armed and dangerous, and if anyone locates him, they should contact the Jacksonville Police Department at 903-586-2546 or the Tyler FBI office.
He said authorities believe Lucas is still in the Jacksonville area.
He is described as about 5-6 or 5-7, about 180 pounds with numerous tattoos.
