Man Attacks Kilgore Fire Department

UPDATE: KILGORE (KYTX) - The man accused of aggravated assault of a public servant was taken into custody following his release from the hospital.

Kilgore Police Department took Kenny Davlin into custody upon his release from Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.

Davlin was arrested due to a warrant of arrest for the charge of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.

He was transported and booked into the Rusk County Jail in Henderson, Texas. No bond has been accessed at this time.


 

KILGORE (KYTX) - Kilgore Fire Chief Johnny Bellows reveals to CBS 19 that Kenny Wayne Davlin was shot in the shoulder and has been in surgery since this morning. Bellows believes he will survive. He adds that no firefighters were injured. Davlin has been listed in good condition.

KILGORE (KYTX) - The Kilgore Police Department says at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, the Kilgore Fire Department responded to a fire on the 1500 block of Peach Street. The house was fully engulfed and unoccupied. The fire was being extinguished when one of the firefighters saw 39-year-old Kenny Wayne Davlin carrying a gun behind his back. Police report that Davlin could've been intoxicated. Police report that Kilgore Fire Marshal Brandon Bigos tried to take Davlin's gun, and take him into custody. Davlin was able to escape and run inside of a house. Police report that Davlin came back outside with an AR-15 Rifle and pointed it at the firefighters working the fire scene. The firefighters took cover behind a Kilgore Fire Truck. Fire Marshal Bigos shot Davlin who was later transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center. His medical condition is unknown at this time. The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation.

Davlin has a long criminal history. According to Gregg County's Online Arrest Records, Davlin has been arrested 8 times since 1999. Charges span from Assaults to DWIs.
