UPDATE: Lufkin sex offender suspect arrested in Diboll

LUFKIN - UPDATE: Lufkin police notified CBS19 that William Dykes was arrested earlier today in Diboll, Texas. 

Dykes was wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements.

No further updates are available at this time.


Lufkin Police are looking for a known sex offender whom has failed to comply with registry requirements.

According to Lufkin Police spokesperson Jessica Pebsworth, 38-year-old William Thomas Dykes is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements. 

Dykes claimed to be living with a family member, but a recent police check revealed he was instead at a local motel. Police went to the motel to make contact and were told Dykes abruptly checked out on August 7.

Dykes has previous arrests for non-compliance with registry requirements and his original charge stems from an Iowa conviction for attempt to commit assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, involving a 22-year-old woman sometime prior to July of 2000. 

He is 5 feet, 7 inches and 198 pounds. He is bald and has hazel eyes.
