Emergency landing at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport

Earlier today - a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.

It began with an alert at 1:00 p.m. A twin engine Piper Cheyenne was having issues with the landing gear on the left side.

The aircraft circled, making multiple flyovers while working with air traffic control and a mechanic on the ground, working to get the landing gear to release.

After over an hour of circling the pilot made a belly emergency landing around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon.

The pilot was able to immediately exit the plane and suffered no injuries.
