Update: Police ID driver in fatal Longview drunk driving wreck

UPDATE: Police spokeswoman Kristie Brian has released the names of the suspect and pedestrian involved in a deadly collision on Lee Street on Wednesday.

Brian confirmed that Bell was the victim in the wreck. He remains at Good Shepherd Medical Center, where his mother, Lenay Okeke, said he has been declared legally dead. His organs will be donated before he is taken off life support.

Brian said Sarah Reeves, 34, who lives on Lee Street, was arrested that night and charged with drunk driving. She released that same night on a surety bond.

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Longview police say a drunk driver hit a pedestrian in the Pine Tree area on Wednesday night.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the driver, who was taken into custody Wednesday for intoxication assault. There has not been word yet on whether that charge will be upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.

The victim was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview with life-threatening injuries, according to police spokeswoman Kristie Brian.

The victim's mother has identified him as 24-year-old Lynden Alexander Bell, of Longview. She said Bell was declared "legally dead" on Thursday, but he remains on life support so that his organs may be donated to other health patients.

Bell was a manager at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant in Longview, but was to begin a new job with his father at Trinity Industries on Monday, said the mother. Bell was preceded in death by his daughter, Jade Bell, who died 24 days after her premature birth earlier this year, the mother said.

The collision happened in the 1900 block of Lee Street near Pine Tree Primary School, Brian said.
