Update: Police identify suspect arrested after hitting patrol car in attempted carjacking

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - According to Gregg County jail records, 32-year-old Grant Henly, of Dallas, was the man arrested for robbery outside Louis Morgan pharmacy on S. High St. at around PM Tuesday.

Hanley is in the Gregg County Jail this morning on bonds totaling $50,000.

Henly is also wanted for violating his probation, stemming from a conviction for possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone in his native Potter County.

Longview officer Kristie Brian says the patrolman was treated and released from a local hospital Tuesday. More charges could be filed against Henly.


A Longview man has been arrested for trying to steal a vehicle with two people inside the car, and then crashing into a police car before wrecking the vehicle.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of High Street.

Longview Police spokesperson Kristie Brian says a woman was inside the Louis Morgan Drug Store, when a man in the parking lot tried to steal the small passenger car, and drove off.

Brian said the suspect ran into a wall and struck a Longview police patrol car.

The officer arrested the man on the spot.

The officer was treated and released at a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.
