UPDATE: Witness in capital murder case who failed to show in court now in custody

UPDATE: (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Tyiska Ramone Gray is now in custody, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities are asking for help in locating a Tyler man who is a material witness in a capital murder case after he failed to show for court.

Tyler Police Spokesman Don Martin said his agency has obtained a warrant for Tyiska Ramone Gray, 31, for tampering with physical evidence in the P.T. Cole Park shooting that happened July 30, 2013 and left 20-year-old Briana Raquel Young dead.

Martin said the warrant for Gray is related to the disposal of weapons possibly related to the case.

Smith County District Attorney Matt Bingham said Gray is also a witness in the case, but he could not discuss any details because the case is under a protective order, which restricts information about the case being disseminated to the public.

However, Bingham did say he feels positive Gray is in the Tyler area.

"He made an appearance in a local attorney's office yesterday, but when the attorney went back out to the lobby to get him, Gray had left the building," he said.

Anyone with information about Gray's whereabouts is asked to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or the Tyler/Smith County Crimestoppers at 903-597-2833.
