UPDATE: Woman in standoff former nurse of Good Shepherd Medical Center

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The woman who died in the Longview standoff Thursday afternoon was a former nurse for Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, according to GSMC officials.

Candace Jackson resigned her employment with the hospital back in February.

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Roads blocked, people not allowed to get home, and law enforcement everywhere, was the scene in this quiet neighborhood on Eden Road in Longview.

Longview Police say that Candace Jackson barricaded herself inside this home.
Police say she opened fire from inside the home, then police shot several canisters of tear gas into the home, she came out with a weapon and shot several more times --- and police say they shot back.
Daniel Davis works at an apartment complex for senior citizens near by.

He came to make sure his tenants were okay.
"I came down here to see what was going on. If there are bullets flying around, I don't want them outside" - Davis

2 schools nearby were forced to let out early, and parents were called to pick up their children.
A neighbor who lives nearby, but did not want to be identified, says it is unusual for this area.

"There are kids that live right there, and it is very family oriented. This is not normal"
Candace Jackson was later transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center, where she later died.
