UT Tyler Debate team hold top national ranking

TYLER (KYTX) - The UT Tyler Debate team is creating a name for themselves. Out of 250 Universities, they are ranked number nine nationally.

The teams recent win during the Mckendree University debate tournament in Lebanon, Illinois solidified their standing. Debaters have a simple plan to move up in rank.

"We just have to keep on winning. I believe we're in a good position  to do that and move on the rankings, we'll know that as we debate more and more," said Patriot Talon head coach Charles Walts.

A few of the teams the UT Team is currently outranking are: Texas Tech, Purdue and the University of California at Berkeley.

The next tournament the team will compete is at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
