Wanted East Texas sex offender arrested in Armstrong Co.

ARMSTRONG COUNTY (KYTX) - A wanted East Texas sex offender was arrested in Armstrong County Monday morning.

According to Armstrong County Chief Deputy Brandon Brown, responded to a call around 7:45 a.m. of a report of a suspicious person in Tan F-250 parked on CR 23 near CR Kilo.

Upon arrival, Brown found a woman, Desiree Williams, at the vehicle. The reporting party stated that there was a male with the vehicle. While checking the William's story, Chief Deputy Brown noticed that the vehicles license plate was altered with tape.

After discovering the correct tag number, Chief Deputy Brown discovered the Doug Otis Sims, 32 of Center was the owner of the truck and was wanted for 3 Felonies out of Shelby County.

Williams was arrested and additional officers were requested from area counties and the Highway Patrol. According to the Armstrong County Sheriff's Facebook page, Williams stated she did not know what direction Sims ran and that he was scared of the police.

Officers from the Donely County, Carson County Sheriffs', Texas Department of Public Safety(Highway Patrol and Air Craft), and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, for there assistance in the man hunt for the wanted Felon.

At 1:57PM Sims was located by TDCJ and taken into custody after short foot chase.
Both Williams and Sims were booked in the Armstrong County Jail
