MINEOLA (KYTX) - A utility worker is crushed and killed, on the job, in Mineola Monday evening.
The accident happened at a construction site on Loop 564 and Highway 69. The Wood County Sheriff's Department says the man was working on installing a utility line when a large piece of construction equipment fell on top of him.
According to a Sheriff's Department press release, the man was part of a team drilling a hole underneath the road, to run the utility line, when a large piece of construction equipment overturned into the hole, crushing him.
The man is identified as 40-year-old Romualdo Gonzalez-Paramo, of Waskom. No other workers were hurt.
The death is being investigated.
