(CBS/WOWK) - Some people in West Virginia have had lots of shoveling to do after a good snow and some winter weather in the area. There's a young man in Paint Creek, who has been helping his neighbors, with that snow during a winter blast. It's an act that warms their hearts.
You could say 12 year old Sam Vealey likes winter and all of the snow that comes with it.
"Cause it is fun," says Sam Vealey. Shoveling piles of snow isn't something most people would describe as a good time, but Sam says, "I am smaller and I can do this." Sam just can't get enough. "Well, I shovel the road out in front of our house so cars can get through."
He doesn't stop there. "When I saw him, he was out there shoveling snow off the sidewalk," says Hershel Wiley. He went by twice in one day to shovel Hershel Wiley's porch, just because.
"Well, Hershel can get to his mailbox and Donnie can get up the ramp to Hershel," says Sam. "He always knows when there is something to be done and then he will show up. He is a good boy," says Hershel.
"I do it to help," Sam says. Sometimes people try to pay him for the work he does around their house, but to this young man, it isn't about earning cash. It is about helping those who need it and spreading smiles wherever he can. "It is fun for me. It gets me something to do and then they don't have to do it," says Sam.
Come summer, Sam says he will still be out working in the neighborhood. He'll just be mowing lawns with a push mower.
