Web Exclusive: Dogs Getting Protection

Dallas, TX -- 13 Dallas Police dogs will don bullet and stab-proof vests thanks to the non-profit group "Vest N Police Dog Protection."

"They don't know they're going into danger. They're so loyal," Susie Jean, President of Vest N Police Dog Protection, said.

Texas native "Susie Jean" founded New-Mexico-based organization after seeing a news story about a canine officer killed on duty.

She asked local police if they had the $2000 needed for their dogs. When they said no, she raised the money herself.

11 years later, she's helped outfit 734 police dogs in 43 different states. In a ceremony at Fair Park, Jean presented Dallas PD with 6 vests, McKinney 3 , and 1 to Halliday police.

Senior Corporal Barrick Culp believes the work of his partner, Argo, is already priceless.

"His nose is so incredible that I can give him a command, we can track through the woods, and he locates the bad guy and we get him in custody," Culp said.
