(WFSB/CNN) - More women are turning to plastic surgery to make their hands look younger. The trend is popular with women about to be married.

It's a moment many women dream of, the day the love of their life pops the question!  Many brides-to-be snap a picture of their hand wearing the new glittering diamond to post online. That has some taking extreme measures to make sure their photos online and on their wedding day are picture perfect.

"The hands are a definite giveaway of aging," says Dr. John Borkowski, Plastic Surgeon.

Doctor John Borkowski says he's seen an uptick in women of all ages turning to cosmetic surgery to improve the look of their hands. And it's not just young brides anymore. Older people's interest in the procedure is also growing.

"We can use the filler materials to either camouflage the visible tendons or veins in the hands," says Dr. John Borkowski.

Doctors can inject Restalyne or Juvaderm to make hands appear more youthful. So why has the trend taken off so much in just the past few years?

"It's all social media driven," says says Dr. John Borkowski.

As more people post selfies, many can become critical of their own appearances. All this, as the digital world plays more of a role in people's lives.
