Web Exclusive: Is fast food any healthier in the last decade?

(CBS) - A 14-year study found fast food restaurants have modestly improved the Nutritional quality of their food.  Researchers in Minnesota analyzed data from menus of eight restaurants including McDonald's, Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Based on the healthy eating index the overall quality improved by two points.  KFC saw the most improvement with a 9 point increase.  Researchers say more than 25% of American adults eat fast food two or more times a week.  High fat and high salt foods can lead to diet-related chronic diseases.

A tax on what you and your family members buy online is a step closer to reality. The senate has passed a bill that may well end tax-free shopping on the internet.  If the bill becomes law, internet retailers will have to charge the tax for anyone living in a state that already collects sales taxes.  The senate passed the bill 69 to 27.  It will now head to the house where it faces stiff opposition from some lawmakers who say this is a tax increase.

Wal-mart has reclaimed the top spot on the Fortune 500 list.  Exxon Mobil dropped to #2.  Apple ranked sixth and Facebook, which went public in may of last year, made the Fortune 500 list for the first time.

And is mom or dad more effective in talking to kids about money matters?  A survey by fidelity found that mothers clearly have the upper hand.  It shows moms are often the first to encourage conversations over issues like financial security in retirement, caring for an elder or estate planning.
