Wendy Davis makes a stop in Tyler on the campaign trail

TYLER (KYTX) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis made a stop in Tyler today. Tyler was one of the first places Davis campaigned on her road to Austin.
CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey was there as Davis met with supporters at Stanley's bar-b-que, and explains how Davis plans to win the governors seat.

Democratic candidate for Governor received a warm welcome from dozens who filled the room at Stanley's BBQ.

"With your help you will select a fighter to the governor's office and your voices will be the voices in the Texas capital," Davis said while addressing the audience.

Some key topics topping Davis' list to discuss at local gatherings like this one -- center around equal pay for equal work, education and women's right.

"My vote will be for Wendy absolutely without a doubt," said Davis supporter Lula Hinton.

"This woman not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk," Hinton said.

Davis signed Hinton's tennis shoe. She says it symbolizes the tennis shoes Davis wore as she stood for an 11 hour filibuster to try and stop a bill that would require more strict abortion regulations.

"She is not just hot air and she intends to deliver on her  promises to the citizens of state of Texas," Hinton said.

Davis also made a stop in Longview today. For over ten years, republican rick perry has held the governor's seat. If Davis wins, this will be the first democratic governor in over two decades.
She faces Gregg Abbott on the Republican side -- and Kathie Glass for the Libertarian party.
