WHITE OAK (KYTX) - Tonight, trustees in this East Texas community are expected to move closer to calling a bond election next year.
White Oak school trustees are expected to ask Superintendent Mike Gilbert to explore how much a new high school and other additions would cost the school district. Gilbert said the high school is 38 years ago and, because of its design, doesn't meet the security needs of today's schools.
"The current building is not even set up well to where we could set up safety features that we'd like to have," Gilbert said. He added that it would be February before trustees would call an election. If called -- that election would be held in May.
Trustees meet at 6:15 tonight at the WOISD Administration Building, 200 S. White Oak Road.
