Winter Weather Advisory in effect for much of East Texas

(KYTX) - The Winter Weather Advisory effects Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches, Lufkin and Mt. Pleasant from midnight tonight through Tuesday and early Wednesday ending at 6 a.m.

There will be a mix of light rain which will continue until temperatures fall to freezing or below. We expect that to happen after midnight progressing from north to south across the I-20 corridor at which time freezing rain will begin possibly as far south as Lufkin.

Surfaces in the advisory area could take on a very light accumulation of ice, but bridges and overpasses could become slick.

Freezing rain and sleet will continue Tuesday morning changing to rain and sleet Tuesday afternoon if temperatures rise above freezing as expected.

Tuesday night, temperatures will again fall to freezing and below creating more freezing rain and icing conditions.

The icing could be a little heavier in deep East Texas than along the I-20 corridor Tuesday night. All the wintry stuff will end Wednesday morning. The rest of the week and the weekend will be mostly sunny and warmer
