Winter Weather Advisory in effect until midnight for portions of East Texas

(KYTX) - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of East Texas  until midnight Friday.

An upper-level disturbance moving east across the region combined with near freezing temperatures will result in rain transitioning to freezing rain,sleet,and snow.

Accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch of ice may be possible on area roadways and bridges and overpasses through midnight as temperatures fall below freezing during the evening hours.

Travel may become hazardous on elevated roads and bridges due to icing.

 A winter weather advisory means that periods of light freezing rain could cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery bridges and overpasses limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
