Woman arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman following an argument


On January 4th, 2014, at approximately 1835 hours the Tyler Police Department received a 911 call stating that a woman had been stabbed at 732 W Harmony. Officers responded to the scene and found a female victim, identified as Tommie Lynn Shakleford, with two stab wounds.

The suspect, identified as Vanessa Carr was still on scene. Carr was quickly detained without incident. The on-scene investigation determined that the offense was a result of an argument between two neighbors that had escalated into violence. Shackleford was transported to East Texas Medical Center with a serious stab wound to the head and ear.

She was then flown to Dallas for further care. Carr was transported to the Smith County Jail where she was booked in for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Tampering with Evidence.

She is being held on bonds totaling $200,000.
