Woman crochets Barbie clothes while undergoing chemo-therapy

TYLER (KYTX) - Most little girls have owned at least one Barbie. One east Texas woman never has, but she can make clothes down to the exact measurements.

Doris Humphress has crocheted 254 different outfits for Barbie. She began in 2000 when she was going through chemo-therapy for colon cancer.

She says she never owned a Barbie herself, but found the patterns online and thought she could make the clothing for her granddaughters.

"It was therapeutic in a wanting to design things. It's like a puzzle. I want to see how it's going to come out," Humphress said.

She makes full outfits, and even themes like Disney. She has a dress for Snow White and Cinderella.

Humphress said, half were made during her first chemo treatment, and about half during her second.
