Woman struck by lightning in Lufkin IHOP parking lot

UPDATE: (FROM LUFKIN DAILY NEWS) - Lufkin Police have released the name of the IHOP employee killed after being struck by lightning Tuesday night outside the restaurant. The woman has been identified as Meshell Foxworth, 32, of Lufkin.



UPDATE: According to the Lufkin Daily News, an employee of the IHOP restaurant in Lufkin died after being struck by lightning. The 30 year old woman had been holding an umbrella as she stood outside during the storm. The woman's name has not been released yet.



KYTX (LUFKIN) - Authorities are looking into an incident where a woman was stuck by lightning in a parking lot.

This happened at IHOP on Medford Drive in Lufkin. Steve McCool, Public Information Officer for the Lufkin Fire Department, tells CBS19 they were called to the parking lot just before 10:30 Tuesday night. The woman, believed to be an employee of IHOP, was taken to Woodlands Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.

The Lufkin Fire Department is not releasing any more details about the incident at this time.
