Zimmerman to ask for up to $300K from Florida for court costs

(CNN) - George Zimmerman's legal team plans to ask the state of Florida to pay up to $300,000 of his legal expenses.

It would cover some of the money spent on expert witnesses, travel expenses and transcript fees during his murder trial. Zimmerman was acquitted in the death of teenager Trayvon Martin. Under Florida law, an acquitted defendant can ask the court to pay some of the costs in the case.
