9 East Texas Teams Headed to 7-on-7 State Tournament

7 on 7 State Tournament Preview

TYLER - The 7-on-7 state tournament gets started on Thursday and East Texas has 9 teams hoping to bring home a state title.

Area teams have had some success in recent years. Last year, John Tyler made it to the state semifinals. In 2015, Chapel Hill made it to the final four. And in 2014, Whitehouse made it all the way to the state title game.

The 9 East Texas teams who have made it to state this year are:

Lufkin (Division 1 - Pool B)

Marshall (Division 1 - Pool H)

Longview (Division 1 - Pool I)

Jacksonville (Division 1 - Pool N)

Whitehouse (Division 1 - Pool O)

Carthage (Division 2 - Pool E)

Gilmer (Division 2 - Pool G)

Canton (Division 2 - Pool M)

Palestine (Division 2 - Pool N)

Division 2 pool play will take place on Thursday, followed by championship/consolation games on Friday.

Division 1 pool play will take place on Friday, followed by championship/consolation games on Saturday.

All games will take place at Veterans Park in College Station.
