Jeff Traylor Stadium was the place to be on Saturday night; and also the hottest ticket in town. The #1 Carthage Bulldogs visited the #2 Gilmer Buckeyes. The atmosphere was electric, as more than 6,000 fans showed up for the east Texas battle.
Gilmer would get out to a hot start, as they took a 28-13 lead at the half. But the second half was all Carthage. The Bulldogs scored 35 unanswered points on their way to defeating the Buckeyes 48-28.
After the game, Carthage head coach Scott Surratt stated, "This is a huge win. To come out here in this atmosphere (and win) is crazy."
