The Tyler Rose himself was back in Tyler on Wednesday at his former high school -- John Tyler, for yet another honor. Earl Campbell can add "Hometown Hall of Famer" to his long list of credentials.
Known as one of the top running backs of all time, Campbell was recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a second time. The first, was in Canton, Ohio and the second -- in his hometown of Tyler.
Campbell was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. He's one of only three Heisman Trophy winners to have been a number one overall draft pick in the NFL and to be a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.
A "Hometown Hall of Famer" plague will be hung in the halls of John Tyler where for generations to come, lions can see who they too can become.
