East Texas Christian Academy made history on Saturday afternoon. For the first time ever, they hosted a 6-man football game.
Fans, parents, and classmates packed the football field to cheer on the Panthers in their home opener. This is the inaugural season for the ETCA 6-man football team.
After a strong first half, in which they only trailed 14-0, things got worse in the second half. King's Academy would get rolling on offense, and scored 31 points in the second half. In the end, the Knights picked up their first win of the season, as they defeated ETCA 45-0.
Despite the lopsided loss, Coach Joe Permenter was thrilled to have everyone come out and support the team. "We're just glad to be in our new stadium," Permenter explained, "I think the fans enjoyed it. We just try to do our best and have fun."
Next up, ETCA takes on Full Armor Christian Academy on September 23.
