TYLER - One of the key players from the Cowboys championship teams of the '90's made a stop in East Texas on Thursday.
Former fullback Daryl Johnston was in town to help kick off the United Way's annual campaign. He talked with fans, signed some autographs, and took a few pictures. And if you think it's only in East Texas that people want to chat with him, he says, think again.
"The Cowboy brand is pretty amazing...whether you're a smaller city outside of the Dallas area here in the state of Texas or even in other parts of the country where you wouldn't think there are a lot of Cowboys fans at, they always seem to have that fan base. Dallas is 'America's Team'," Johnston explains.
As an analyst for FOX, Johnston is always keeping an eye on his former team. And while some people thing Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott might regress in their 2nd year, Johnston expects big things from them and the rest of the Cowboys in 2017.
He says, "Dak Prescott put up phenomenal numbers last year as a rookie. If they're off a little bit, if they're down a little bit across the board, it's still a great year...I really don't see even a little step back. I see something consistent to last year or maybe even better."
