GILMER - There are a lot of high school football camps around East Texas throughout the Summer. Many have a well-known coach or a few big-name players.
There are only a few camps that have big-name coaches and players and one of the biggest and best attended camps takes place this week in Gilmer.
The 11th annual East Texas Passing Academy kicked off on Monday night. Gilmer head coach Matt Turner is leading the camp, and helping him out are the first family of Gilmer football, brothers Jeff and Kurt Traylor. Each Traylor brother is busy right now. Jeff is an associate head coach at SMU, while Kurt is in his first month as the head coach at Lee. But this camp means a lot to them and they make it a point to come back every year.
Jeff Traylor says, "It's exciting, I love coming home...I couldn't wait to here here. So many players who mean so much to me, and there's so many coaches here from East Texas, I coached with so many of them, coached against so many of them. It's just fun to be around them all."
The camp runs through Wednesday and we'll have more on CBS19 as the week goes on.
