WHITEHOUSE - Patrick Mahomes was a star for the Whitehouse High School football team. Now, just a few years after playing at Wildcat Stadium, Mahomes is in the NFL.
But he hasn't forgotten about his former team.
Mahomes wanted to do something nice for the Wildcats, so he bought cleats for the team. Not just for a few players...but he bought cleats for every person on the roster.
Whitehouse head coach Adam Cook says, "The kids really understand just how blessed they are that someone has gone and done something special."
The team got their new cleats on Wednesday and had a chance to test them out in Thursday's walk-through.
Whitehouse senior safety Javier Neal says, "It was very exciting we all waited for the cleats to come in and it's just a coincidence that they came in right before district."
The Wildcats say they're incredibly grateful to Mahomes and the coaches are using it as a teaching opportunity this week.
Whitehouse plays their first 17-5A game of the season on Friday night when they host Ennis.
