East Texans Headed to the NFL

TYLER, Texas - The state of Texas has always been known for producing great football players. East Texas has had its share of good players, but I'm not sure a year like this has ever happened before.

During the 3 day NFL Draft, 3 players with East Texas connections were picked. Then following the draft, 8 other East Texas players were signed and/or received invites to minicamp.

Here's a list of East Texas players who were drafted/signed by teams this week (as of 1:15 PM Tuesday):

Patrick Mahomes (Whitehouse) - 1st round pick (#10) by Kansas City Chiefs

Tyus Bowser (John Tyler) - 2nd round pick (#47) by Baltimore Ravens

Josh Reynolds (1 year at TJC) - 4th round pick (#117) by Los Angeles Rams

Fred Ross (John Tyler) - Free agent signing with Carolina Panthers

Greg Ward Jr. (John Tyler) - Free agent signing with Philadelphia Eagles

Colin Jeter (Longview, Kilgore College) - Free agent signing with Indianapolis Colts

Zach Conque (SFA) - Free agent signing with Houston Texans

KD Cannon (Mt. Pleasant) - Free agent signing with San Francisco 49ers

Reginald Davis (Tenaha) - Free agent signing with Atlanta Falcons

Darion Flowers (John Tyler) - Invite to Atlanta Falcons rookie minicamp

Justice Liggins (John Tyler, SFA) - Invite to Arizona Cardinals rookie minicamp

Jerod Evans (2 years at TVCC) - Free agent signing with Philadelphia Eagles
