UT Tyler Men's And Women's Basketball Programs Play For Great Cause

Patriots Play For Charity

The UT Tyler Men's and Women's Basketball programs were playing for more than just victories on Saturday. The Patriots partnered with the UT Tyler Police department to host a toy drive. Anyone who brought a toy was granted free admission to the basketball games. The toys were donated to the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County.

Both teams faced off against Mary Hardin-Baylor in conference games.

In the first game, the women were defeated 71-61 by UMHB. Alex Kochner led the Patriots with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

In the second game, the men defeated the Cru 95-93 in a thriller. Melvin Anthony dropped a game high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Patriots were hot behind the arc, as they netted 15 three-pointers, which is the second most in a game in program history. With the victory, the men move to 7-2 on the season.
